Unique Snow-Groove technology adds biting edges for maximum traction on snow and ice. This new technology helps the outer circumferential grooves retain more snow in the grooves so that the tread is able to focus more on snow on snow, rather than snow on rubber. It’s a different technology that according to many drivers works very well.

D-Squared sipes around the tread further enhance traction on wet or slushy road surfaces. Mastercraft has made the sipes deeper than normal to provide added grip. The tire’s sawtooth center circumferential rib adds more stability to the tire and makes for a more even tread wear.

Pros:
  • Very good snow and ice traction
  • Long lasting treadlife
Cons:
  • Wet traction

Inside the tire you will find a steel belted construction for added strength and durability. The tire is available in a wide range of sizes, including many LT sizes, and you have your choice of getting a black sidewall design or raised white letters. Mastercraft does not provide a mileage warranty, but they do include a first 2/32 inch of wear on the tire’s uniformity. Materials and workmanship are warranted for 5-years and include free replacement during the first 25% of tread wear, followed by a prorated amount for the remaining period.

The Courser MSR does a solid job of providing traction on light to deep snow, as well as ice. We would like to see added wet handling, but it did perform adequately. Steering response is crisp and the tire provides good feedback. The ride is comfortable and tread noise is minimal for a winter tire. Overall, this Mastercraft model makes a good choice in a lower entry level winter tire.
